Biography
Damian Green is currently Director of the Social Care Foundation, which seeks to inform and publicise the challenges facing the care sector. He also runs a strategic advice company.
Between 1997 and 2024 he was the Member of Parliament for Ashford. He had an extensive career in Government, culminating in being First Secretary of State (Deputy Prime Minister) to Theresa May. He was also Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Minister for Police, Criminal Justice and Victims, and Minister for Immigration.
In other parliamentary work he chaired the Select Committee for Culture, Media and Sport. He also chaired the All-Party Group on Adult Social Care, and the All-Party Group on Longevity. Inside the Conservative Party he chaired the One Naton Caucus of moderate Conservative MPs.
Outside Parliament he has held roles in the water, rail and food industries. He was a financial journalist at the start of his career working for the BBC, ITN, Channel 4 and The Times.
